About me

I’m a backend software developer with a strong focus on building reliable and efficient APIs. I enjoy solving problems, refactoring code for better maintainability, and continuously improving existing systems. My main tools include Java, Kotlin, Python, and Go, and I work extensively with frameworks like Spring Boot and Quarkus.

I am not a fan of vibe coding or anything that leads to a developer’s not understanding what they write. My opinions on AI hype will be found in the blog section.

I have worked as Product Owner with Martin on multiple projects over the past years, during his cooperation with INNIO. Together, we developed more than one solution from the ground up in the Industrial IoT scene. Martin not only has been a key contributor by providing high-quality SW, but also played a core role in defining the architecture of our solutions. He always showed commitment to the project and the users, going the extra mile to ensure the users would have a functioning solution, while not cutting corners on quality. Also, he never shied away from cumbersome topics, like diving into complex older code to understand it, improve it, or refactor it.

Working with Martin has been a truly enriching experience. His exceptional depth of knowledge, combined with a genuine curiosity to dive deep into every problem and understand the business context behind it, sets
him apart. Reliable and deeply committed, Martin takes ownership of the solutions he delivers, which is truly invaluable. Just a sort of 10x developer.

In my opinion, you are an extremely skilled developer who works hard, is very fast in understanding underlying problems (not “just” source code), and is able to design scalable, robust, and testable solutions. I really liked
working with you
, not only – but also – because your nature is a very calm one. Therefore, you are able to keep discussions non-emotional (and put emotions to calls where they belong – more private ones).

Martin and I worked together for over two years at adidas. During that time, I came to respect Martin for his skills as well as his attitude. He was able to build dozens of micro-services for our use in our own apps as well as vendors and partners, all of which we still use today. So his skills check out. However, Martin’s skills (while very good) are not the best thing about him. Martin really shines in the care he brings to the team. He embraces the DevOps mindset and takes full ownership of what he creates. Supporting the services, deployments and always improving existing processes that make the whole team’s jobs a bit easier. I fully recommend Martin as a teammate and a professional.

Jan Muranyi (CTO at VM Telecom)

Mr. Formanko has incorporated within a short time. He is able to adapt to assigned tasks in a very fast manner and he was able to solve them flawlessly. He followed the agreed objectives. His communication in team was conflict-free and often helpful for teammates. He has managed to bring many useful ideas. He was always able to work under time pressure with effort, without problems, working overtime to keep the deadlines.
